This was the night that all of us waited for, the ladies of Ilima Hula Studio. They were absolutely fantastic, I was speechless after watching them. I had seen them dance this song many times, but never with the entire assemble. It gave me "chicken skin". Plus I learned of the queen's travels to see her people and how she traveled on the train to Wailua. I look forward to seeing this version again some day....
What a beautiful dance, you really captured their movements. Nicole is so talented. "Chicken Skin"
ReplyDeleteAloha Eddie, mahalo so much for sharing your photos with me. Ur daughter is beautiful, so u'i. just looking at her pictures, i can see she is also a very accomplished hula dancer. maika'i loa. the kahiko pictures are very wonderful, you capture the essence of hula in motion. it is really nice to see kahiko hula, where the dancers are not wearing make up, and it is all about the hula. so wonderful. the 'auana hula is so classic ilima hula studio. when i danced for lani's mama and aunt, the holoku with the hat and the feathers was a signature for ilima. so nice to see the halau back in action. again, mahalo so much for your sharing, and im very glad i was maha'oi enough to ask if you would share. anything i can do for you @ the cdl office is always my pleasure. ano ai ko ala hele, may your way be blessed. aloha....joanna kalehuanani howard..
