Big waves on the north shoreS

Shark's Cove
The North shore of Oahu was experiencing some dangerous surf for the second day in a row. The air was filled with mist and lots of salt spray. The car was totally covered with a fine coating of the salty mixture. The day was also windy as heck but that didn't stop the tourist from flocking to see the waves. The were some that insisted on getting a better shot, so they wandered in front of me. To their surprise they were met by some of the exploding water. They were a mess and I had a good laugh to myself, they should follow the beach customs and not be so know it all. My friend Milton joined me and we had a pretty good time shooting waves, he also gave me good advice on the functions of my new camera equipment. I didn't disclose the fact that my camera gear had been stolen from my car about four weeks ago. I now have a new set of gear to continue my shooting with. Thanks Milton for all of your advice and I hope that we can do this again sometime soon.

Makapu'u/Makai Pier for moonrise

Rabbit Island
Today was a beautiful day for a drive to the windward side. There was blue sky and just enough wind to allow the hang gliders to sail in droves over Makapu'u Beach and the lookout. They were having a great time and truly mesmerizing the tourist with some of the stunts, I must admit even I was taken for a loop by them. The moon rise was good also even though the cloud layer was low. There were still good shots to be had. It was great to see the club members turn out for this shoot. I enjoyed the ride over there and the ride home, the moon was full and high in the sky.......aloha

Happy New Year

Susan and Nicole
It is finally the last minutes before midnight. For the first time, the fireworks display is being held at Ko Olina, there will be fireworks at all four lagoons. It is the largest display on Oahu. We took our beach mat, some sparkling grape juice to celebrate the incoming New Year. The display was right next to us and the fireworks were the best that we have seen in Hawaii in a while. Lets hope that this will be the new trend and we will not have to go into Waikiki for the festivities any more, it was great to be so close to home. Well, let the New Year begin.....aloha

December 31, 2011, what a great day

the last sunrise of 2011
My day started at 0430, I was on the flightline when the sun came up right next to Diamond Head. It was a clear and beautiful start of the last day of the year. If the day started out like this the ending of the day is going to be a beauty. The Indian Ringneck Parakeets were amazing also, what an awesome display of parakeets, finches and doves. There were at least a thousand birds feeding at the residence of some new friends. They have been feeding the birds twice a day for many years, what a sight to see......aloha to 2011
waiting for the dinner bell
