Hula Oni' E Hilton Tapa Tower

What a wonderful night of Hawaiian music and dance. The outfits were colorful and stunning as they always are. The dancers put their heart and soul into each and every dance. What a delight to sit in a nice venue and be able to see some of the finest dancing halau they take this seriously. Nicole's halau performed and I must say, they are one of the most together groups out there. The Kahiko again was done in a very colorful skirt and beautiful leis were in order for the night. They did not disappoint the crowd at all. I could watch them dance all night long. It was a long night but they also danced the Au'ana and were even more beautiful than ever. The fitted dresses were magnificent and they did their thing again, mesmerising and with grace. What a night.......aloha

shooting with Heather Toshiko at Nu'uanu Park

Cat and Cassie
Had a wonderful photoshoot with some fellow club members along with Heather Toshiko. The workshop was all about shooting with available light and applying some creative techniques. The session was highly informative in giving us instructions on how to communicate with models while photographing. There was interaction with the models, the photographer communicating what pose, facial expressions, and attitudes that were needed for the shot. The models were professional in the sense that they gave great feedback to the photographer so they could both adjust to what was needed in the shot. We used available props, leaves, blades of grass, and just things laying around to produce a little visual color to the edges of the frame. I would use this technique again in my own shooting sessions. The workshop was very productive to me and I would even consider doing another one with Heather. Thanks Heather, Cat and Cassie for making this a great workshop.......aloha

the Empress Restaurant, Chinatown

After the ceremony at Honolulu Hale, there was a dinner at the Empress Restaurant in Chinatown, there were quite a few club members present. We enjoyed a delicious meal. There are a few photos showing the food, we truly savored the meal. The only thing was that I was still hungry about an hour later, oh well, grab an apple and be satisfied....I had a great time. The club was recognized by the Mayor and Milton, our club president was presented a certificate of Appreciation for the photos that are hanging in the "gallery" at city hall. Mahalo for a pleasing day and delightful dinner.....aloha

Kaohsiung/Honolulu sister city 201

This event was a surprise to me, it turned out to be a really interesting event to watch. There were moments where it seemed like a not so serious happening. It was the affirmation of the two cities commitment to each other, it's been in effect for 50 years, that is quite some time. There were some funny moments as well as the moment of the signing of the official documents. The Honolulu Mayor has a sense of humor that was displayed numerous times during the ceremony, but he was polite and respectful towards the foreign visitors. I had a good day and the evening was also a pleasant and tasty evening, the Empress restaurant did a fabulous job with the food. What a day of activities, well done....aloha.
